Before games and XR, I worked with my hands. I have a degree in electronics, spent eight years testing, repairing, and supporting broadcast transmitters, and I still spend a lot of my spare time designing, printing, and wiring things.
NullKeys
Industrial design : Fusion 360, printing, ZMK
A 36 key split keyboard with a trackpad built into the right half, laid out so every letter and hotkey sits under one hand while the other stays on the mouse. Designed in Fusion 360, printed, wired, and running custom ZMK firmware. The case study walks through the constraints, the iterations, and what broke.
3D printing : designed and printed
A geometric piece I designed and printed, with layered curves and leaf patterns in relief on every face.
2019 : Stage centerpiece
A custom centerpiece for the Future Forest stage, cut from plywood on a Maslow CNC and lined with addressable WS2812 LEDs. The whole thing ran from Resolume over Art-Net, so the lights and the projected visuals moved together with the music.
2013 to 2021 : Nautel
Eight years at Nautel working on AM and FM broadcast transmitters and navigation beacons: testing, installs, repair, and international support, plus building training for technicians around the world.
Some of those customers had to charter a helicopter just to reach their site. When your instructions are the only help someone has out there, they have to work the first time. I still write every doc and tutorial that way.
